專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么?The Foundation Year in Computing and Engineering is offered as an entry route to a computing or design engineering degree for students who don't yet meet the entry requirements for degree-level study. You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. During the foundation year you will learn how computers are used by a broad range of people and organisations as well as acquiring fundamental software development skills and knowledge of hardware. You also gain relevant mathematical and statistical skills and develop useful communication skills. Overview Gain the practical training and project experience to become an accomplished Mechatronics engineer – a multi-disciplinary designer at the forefront of the manufacturing and production revolution. The degrees produce professional and competent multi-disciplinary engineers capable of meeting the challenges and opportunities arising in contemporary industrial and commercial practice. You will focus on developing systems that control physical motion such as those found in robotic applications and industrial automation, using the latest industry hardware and software equipped in our labs and workshops. To support your career success, you will build a professional portfolio of work throughout your degree and receive regular guest lectures and project feedback from industry professionals, with the option of spending a year on industry placement. How is the BEng Mechatronics taught? Whether you choose the BEng or MEng you will encounter the same teaching and learning approaches. You will develop knowledge and skills through a blended learning approach which involves face-to-face sessions (lectures, laboratory sessions and/or seminar sessions), self-directed, resource-based learning, small group discussions, small group and individual exercises, laboratory and workshop sessions, demonstration software, on-line examples and quizzes, group presentations and the research project. Weekly seminar sessions provide the opportunity to address questions, queries and problem solving as well as real life scenarios. The main project modules bring all the learning together into a practical design and manufacturing exercise. Assessment You will enjoy regular tutorial contact with academic staff, and you will be assessed by a variety of methods. You will be graded of course on your designs and projects, both group and individual, but you will also submit essays and reports, give presentations and do tests. If you choose to do an industrial placement, this will also form part of your assessment. Careers This course opens the door to a varied career in an exciting industry. Our degree prepares you for work in mechatronics engineering as well as several areas including design engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering. We encourage you to develop a commercial approach to engineering via supported live projects with industrial partners.
