專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么?The Master of Medicine (Pain Management) is an evidence-based and clinically relevant program that explores the problem of pain in the community and the role of health professionals in managing and treating a range of pain conditions.
This program will provide you with knowledge and strategies to prevent acute and sub-acute pain from progressing to chronic and disabling pain, and refine your ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to achieve this goal. You will learn from local and international academic clinicians and researchers including neuroscientists, anaesthetists, pharmacologists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, physiotherapists and research personnel, all widely experienced in pain management practice.
Developed and taught by Sydney Medical School's Pain Management Research Institute based at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Kolling Institute of Medical Research, this is the premier international program in pain management. In 2014 the program was endorsed by the International Association for the Study of Pain, the leading international scientific body representing and supporting about 8000 pain scientists and clinicians around the world.
Suitable for graduates in medicine, dentistry, psychology, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and other relevant health disciplines, this program is offered online and may be completed full time or part time. It is recognised for continuing medical education/maintenance of professional standards points by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Future study options
Outstanding graduates may be eligible to pursue a higher degree by research in the courses of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy and Master of Surgery (by research) offered by Sydney Medical School. A research degree provides students with the opportunity to prepare a substantial piece of work which represents a significant contribution in a particular field of study; and to gain transferable skills in general research methodology. Sydney Medical School is affiliated with over 40 independent medical research institutes aimed at achieving medical firsts in specialist areas of health and medicine. It provides an outstanding environment for postgraduate research. Sydney Medical School's research activities consistently attract high levels of funding from the Commonwealth and state governments, overseas funding agencies and other public and private sources.
