專業概況
在這里學什么?A Bachelor of Science opens up a world of opportunity. Whether you dream of joining the forefront of research, learning how to analyse and think critically or making the planet a better place, a Bachelor of Science will give you highly sought-after skills for a huge range of careers.
At Sydney you will taught by dedicated scientific thinkers, including members of the Australian Academy of Science, Australian Research Council Fellows and prestigious prize winners. You will study in world-class facilities, including the multimillion-dollar Sydney Nanoscience Hub and the Charles Perkins Centre, with its focus on diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.
With more than 40 science majors, programs and streams to choose from plus a pool of shared majors from across the University and a flexible degree plan, the three-year Bachelor of Science allows you to find your own path. In your first year, you'll gain essential knowledge in the fundamental sciences. In second and third years you will specialise in your chosen stream with the option to take elective subjects from across the University.
Study of the brain and nervous system is one of the largest and fastest growing endeavours of the biological sciences, and is research strength at the University of Sydney. A major in Neuroscience will provide you with a foundation in the biology of the brain and the fundamentals of cognition.
You will have the opportunity to learn from researchers in the University's Brain and Mind Centre, and Charles Perkins Centre.
Soil Science and Hydrology
The Soil Science and Hydrology major will provide you with training in three key areas; soil, water and climate, and their links with functional, resilient and productive ecosystems.
This major has a strong emphasis on field-based learning through field schools and emphasis on field measurement and modelling through analysis of non-spatial and spatial data. Working with case studies and projects, you will identify and analyse real-world problems with the aim of identifying options to maintain the functionality of these interrelated systems.
You will develop generic skills in geographic information systems (GIS), laboratory and data analysis that will enable you to find work in a wide range of occupations in public and private enterprises, working in basic and applied research in land and soil management.
Graduate opportunities
Soil scientists are employed in a wide range of occupations in the public and private sector, working in basic and applied research in land and soil management. Students who have graduated with a soil science major are employed in state departments of agriculture, the CSIRO, the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, Sydney Water, the Department of Planning, chemical companies, land care groups, and in the private sector in environmental consultancies.
